2024 Ford F 250 Super Duty Review

2024 Ford F 250 Super Duty Review

Ford's F-Series Super Duty pickup trucks are built on a fully boxed frame made of 95 percent high-strength steel. The platform shaves nearly 350 pounds from the curb weight of its predecessor while strength is increased by a factor of 24 over the previous generation's frame. Riding atop it is a high-strength aluminum alloy body, which Ford describes as military-grade. The F-Series Super Duty provides buyers with best-in-class towing capabilities. In properly equipped F-450s, that means up to 24,200 pounds of conventional capacity and an impressive 30,000-pound capacity. Meanwhile, the F-250 offers best-in-class payload capacity of 4,200 pounds, while the F-350's best-in-class payload tops out at 7,850 pounds. In short, the Super Duty hauls. These F-Series Super Duty trucks are powered by a variety of engines. Standard is a flex fuel 6.8L gas V8 that makes 405 horsepower. Ford's 430 horsepower 7.3L V-8 is optional and also gets buyers a better 10-speed transmission. Finally, a second-generation 6.7L Power Stroke turbo diesel V8 delivers best-in-class power figures of 475 horsepower and an incredible 1050 lb-feet of torque. The base engine is mated to a TorqShift 6-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel and 7.3L engines are both mated to the new 10-speed automatic. Ford's Super Duty pickups are offered in a variety of three-quarter and one-ton configurations--F-250, F-350, F-450--in both 2- and 4-wheel drive, with cabs including regular cab, extended super cab, and 4-door crew cab. Bed sizes include lengths of 6-feet 9-inches and 8 feet, with both standard rear-wheel and dually configurations. Trims across the range include XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Limited and Platinum. XL models include things like 17-inch steel wheels, quad dual-beam halogen headlights, tow hooks, heavy-duty vinyl on a 40/20/40 split bench front seat, air conditioning, an AM/FM stereo with either four or six speakers depending on cab size, 12-volt power outlets, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, AdvanceTrac with roll stability control and trailer sway control. XLT trims add 18-inch alloy wheels, a SYNC infotainment system, SiriusXM satellite radio, three 12V power outlets, two USB ports, cruise control and cloth seating. The Super Duty Lariat adds luxury to the fold, with leather seating, a center console, the SYNC 3 infotainment system with voice activated navigation, power driver and passenger seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8-speaker audio system, power-adjustable pedals, a 12-inch touchscreen and rear privacy glass with a power sliding back window in crew and super cabs. The King Ranch trim comes only on crew cab models. It includes all the Lariat's standard features, plus an accent-color bumper, 2-tone paint, running boards, special alloy wheels, remote start, special Mesa brown leather seating with heated and cooled front seats, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, voice-activated navigation, a reverse sensing system, universal garage door opener and more. The crew cab-only Platinum trim rides on 20-inch wheels and features LED headlights, fog lights and taillights, power running boards, remote tailgate with a built-in tailgate step, adaptive steering and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. A power sunroof, adaptive cruise control, LED bed lighting, and lane-keeping assist are also optional. The available Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System features seven cameras that allow drivers to better maneuver a trailer during hook up backing and towing.

2024 Kia Telluride Review

2024 Kia Telluride Review

The Telluride is powered by a 3.8L V6 engine making 291 horsepower sending power to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic, though all-wheel drive is also available. Though the Telluride isn't going to break any speed records, 291 horsepower is plenty to allow the vehicle to feel relatively spry around town or when merging onto the highway. And while front-wheel drive versions aren't suitable for heavy off-roading, they should still provide plenty of ground clearance for the occasional gravel road, grass field or other light-off-road situation drivers might find themselves in. The Telluride is available in ten different trims: LX, S, EX, EX X-Line, SX, SX X-Line, SX X-Pro, SX-Prestige, SX-Prestige X-Line and SX-Prestige X-Pro. The LX represents the base trim but being the flagship SUV in Kia's lineup, it still comes nicely equipped with lots of standard features including 18-inch alloy wheels, LED Daytime running lights, heated mirrors with LED turn signals in them, a 12.3-inch touch screen display, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity, five USB ports, rear passenger air conditioning with controls for rear seat occupants, leatherette seats and a leather wrapped steering wheel. S models come with a slightly shinier dark metallic grille and more exterior chrome. Wheels on the S are 20-inches, and the SX model also gets a sunroof, roof rails, a power adjustable driver seat, heated front seats and a leather wrapped shift knob. At only a couple of thousand dollars more than the LX, the S model represents a sweet spot from a value perspective. The upmarket EX offers quite a few luxury features in addition to what's available on the S. The exterior mirrors are power folding while the rear liftgate is also powered. One of the standout features to come on the EX is what Kia calls Driver Talk, which allows the driver to project their voice over the rear speakers in order to be more clearly heard by rear seat occupants. However, should those occupants fall asleep, Kia also offers a Quiet Mode on the EX that will cut out all sound to the rear and limit the front speakers from getting too loud, so those in the front seat can still listen to the radio or music without disturbing those in the back. Keeping with the theme, the EX also gets dual zone climate control and sunshades for the second row. Seating surfaces are trimmed in leather on the EX. The top-of-the-line SX offers more of everything, including nicer front seats, a 10-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system, park distance control and a blind spot camera, a 360-degree camera mode, a digital gauge cluster, LED projector beam headlights, LED fog lights and a panoramic dual sunroof. Most safety equipment comes standard across the entire Telluride line including a rear blind spot collision avoidance assist, forward collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, a lane departure warning system, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic avoidance assist, a rearview monitor, smart cruise control and of course several airbags along with the latest and best stability control systems available to Kia.

2024 Kia Seltos Review

2024 Kia Seltos Review

The Seltos comes with one of two powerplants under its hood. The base engine is a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine making 146 horsepower which is mated to either all-four wheels or just the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission. In front-wheel drive form, the Seltos is capable of 31 mpg in combined city and highway driving with the base engine. The optional engine is a 195 horsepower 1.6L turbocharged unit. It's paired to a dual-clutch transmission, which sends power to all-four wheels. Even with the more powerful engine and all-wheel drive, the Seltos is still rated at 27 mpg in combined city and highway driving. There are five different trim levels for the Kia Seltos, starting with the LX trim. Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, all-wheel drive, automatic projector beam headlights, an 8-inch touch screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rearview camera, steering wheel mounted controls for the sound system and cruise control, power door locks and power windows. The S trim adds heated mirrors, chrome exterior highlights, roof rails, and taillights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a forward collision avoidance assist system, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and lane keep following functions. Interestingly enough, unlike the base LX, the S trim does not come with all-wheel drive, though it can be optioned for an extra cost. The upshot is that the S and the LX trims both cost the exact same amount, so owners who don't necessarily need all-wheel drive can get a ton of options instead for the same low price. The EX trim adds a power sunroof, machine finished 17-inch wheels, extra USB charging ports, a wireless phone charger, a smart key with push button and remote starter functions, automatic climate control, LED interior lighting, rear seat HVAC vents, a 10-way power adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic avoidance systems as well as all-wheel drive. At the top of the Kia Seltos range sits the SX Turbo trim. The SX Turbo adds full LED headlights and fog lights, a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen with built in satellite navigation, satellite radio and voice recognition, a Bose sound system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, smart cruise control with stop and go functions and Kia's highway driving assist.

2024 Ford Mustang Review

The 2025 Mustang is available as a fastback or as convertible, with one of four engines. The base engine is an EcoBoost 2.3L turbocharged 4-cylinder with 315 horsepower. More powerful Mustang GT variants are powered by a 5.0L V8 with 480, 486 or 500 horsepower depending on the trim. In other words, the Mustang is fast in all of its forms. Adjustable driving modes such as Normal, Snow/Wet, Sport and Track allow drivers to custom-tune the responsiveness of the Mustang to the task at hand. Fuel economy on the EcoBoost is rated at 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, while the 5.0 V8 returns 15 mpg and 23 mpg, respectively. There are several trim levels for the fastback: EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium, and Dark Horse. The convertibles simplify things by only offering EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium and GT Premium trims. The EcoBoost Mustang's standard equipment includes 18-inch wheels, a 6-way manual adjustable driver's seat, 50/50 split-folding rear seat, a 13.2-inch touchscreen, a 6-speaker sound system, the SYNC 3 infotainment system, and an "intelligent" key. The Ecoboost handling package adds MagneRide suspension, an upgraded Limited slip differential, stiffer spring rates, and a thicker rear sway bar. The EcoBoost Premium trim adds dual-zone automatic climate control, heated mirrors, additional exterior lighting, heated and cooled leatherette front seats with 10-way power-adjustability for the driver, and a 9-speaker stereo with SiriusXM satellite radio compatibility. The GT trims feature a rear spoiler, active grille shutters, 18-inch wheels, while the GT Premium adds heated and cooled front seats, leather upholstery, sport pedals, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, a garage door transmitter, 3 USB ports, satellite radio, and a 9-speaker sound system. The Dark Horse trim is at the top of the lineup with voice activated navigation, a 12-speaker sound system, 19-inch wheels, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a heavy-duty radiator, a larger axle ratio, a multi-mode exhaust, adaptive sport suspension, heavy duty springs, 4-wheel vented disc brakes with painted calipers, a heated sport leather wrapped steering wheel and black exterior accents. Safety features include rear parking sensors, active lane departure, blind spot warning, forward and rear collision mitigation, pedestrian detection, and a driver attention alert while the Dark Horse trim adds a traffic sign recognition system, and evasion assist.

2024 Cadillac XT4 Review

2024 Cadillac XT4 Review

The Cadillac XT4 is powered by a compact 2.0L 4-cylinder engine aided by a turbocharger. Though diminutive in size, the engine makes a stout 235 horsepower, feeding power to the front wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration on the small SUV is so good that it easily outpaces most of the non-performance-oriented vehicles in its class, yet still returns respectable mileage. Cadillac estimates that owners will see around 29 mpg on the freeway in front-wheel drive versions. The XT4 is available in two basic trims Premium Luxury and Sport. Standard features include a power liftgate, LED headlamps, 18-inch wheels, bucket front seats, driver seat memory, dual zone climate control, an HD satellite radio, a 7-speaker sound system, a 33-inch display screen, voice activated navigation, adaptive cruise control, a mobile hotspot, wireless device charging, 4 USB ports, and a leather steering wheel. Standard safety features include parking sensors, active lane departure, active blind spot, forward collision mitigation with left turn assist, rear collision mitigation, front and rear pedestrian warning, front cross traffic mitigation and a traffic sign information system.
